Or we are engulfed in modern ego’s systems and Politicians propaganda systems and trying to misrepresent what Ravidas preached. Am not satisfied with many modern systems. If it was not preserved in Sri Guru Granth Sahib text I bet it would have been lost changed or manipulated many times by now. Call him Guru or Bhagat or Saint or whatever honorable word, but does he care? What he preached? his teaching are the value.

Ravidas, a Harijan by birth, taught equality spirituality based on setting free from the oppression of the Indian hindu caste system then. He was born in an oppressed community known as Chamars, who were considered “untouchable” by upper class hindu’s. Hindus brahmins would take a shower even if they see or touch a Chamar by mistake. If a Chamar enters in there home they will purify the home by water and mantra. Food or bowls if touched by a Chamar was trashed. They were treated even worse in deeper history as to deafen them if they hear any educational lesson reserved for high caste hindus.
Ravidas was denied any acceptance by high caste hindu Indian majority. Ravidas attracted the lowest class of society according to the caste system.
As result of Bhagat Ravidass Ji being a low caste (Chamar) he faced unbearable casteism and unfair prejudice and therefore he was not permitted to follow any faith or worship God as it was normal practice in hinduism for long time and still exists to discriminate lower castes, however his powers & divinity with God couldn’t stop him from doing anything. He proved to all discriminates, that NOTHING could stop a man from acquiring the devotion & presence of God within himself.
Ravidas philosophy or Bhagti path was inline as promoted by other Sikh Saints & Guru’sthat Deny brahmin system & philosophy. Ravidas was Met, Accepted, Honored and Given the most honor Only by Sikh guru’s in Sikh Faith Admitting & by preserving his spiritual teaching is in Sri Guru Granth Sahib, That still today are read and listened by millions worldwide daily.
Some People argue Guru or Bhagat, I would say It makes not much difference. If you are Spiritual and listening to Sri Guru Granth Sahib then he is in there I bow down and salute to him, to Guru Granth Sahib. If you are reading researching or writing the history or studying hierarchy in Sikhism then Guru word for Ravidas might conflict. Other then that its all propaganda and uneducated ego’s . But some people or followers have more ego & demands to set him seprate then ravidas him self (he had none) Please read Ravidas shabad bani understand the meaning then tell what’s argue on or if there should be any argueat all?
Now Gurudwara or Temple is almost Same as paragraph above. Even though Amritsar is also called Golden Temple or Har-Mandir but word just “temple” brings to mind like a temple of one of 16000 idol gods in hinduism with many idols there to worship, Which is Strictly against Ravidas Teaching & philosophy and Sikhism. So if there is Guru Granth Sahib its more appropriate to call it Gurudwara but temple may be Ok too as long as you follow the teaching and discipline described in HOLY text Sri Gru Granth Sahib, Let there be ONE GOD yes ONE GOD. yes Baba Nanak’s IK ONKAR, Let there be no Kam, Krodh, Lobh, Moh, ahankar. Be it Gurudwara or temple if there are any idols or things against or does not follow the Guru then you are missing some thing and not following Ravidas teachings or Sri Guru Granth.
Guru (Guru Granth Sahib is that include all the saints Bhagats and gurus teachings and is Guru ) yes ONE GOD ie ONE GURU yours and mine same. What would you call it!
It is true that Guru Ravidass was a Chamar and what he done for low caste people is unforgettable. Poor people faced unimaginable levels of oppression in those days and unfortunately so called ‘low caste’ people still feel it today. But current political parties try to manipulate peoples minds and histories to any extant, for hisorical facts to daily routines. But hey! your Guru is still there its Sri Guru Granth Sahib Read in and get the desired Spiritual Guidance and avoid all unnecessary world worries and problems.

Guru Nanak Ji, heard what Ravidass Ji had to say and wrote it in his book. To me that looks like Guru Nanak Ji learnt from Ravidass Ji. With that I’ll let you decide who was who’s Guru or Bhagat, but I’m sure your ego will not allow you to see the truth.

Avtar Singh Ji, I am a low caste from UP we have few punjabi’s in our village. Yet I know Guru Nanak did not wrote any book. Granth was compiled by 9th or 10th guru. in modern times I have to change my political sides but I can not forget the fact that it was Sikh Guru who offered so much respect for us lowcaste that let us sit with them in same pangat/line. but here are “avtar singh’ a fake . I can say you are not a punjabi much less a singh other wise you should know who wrote what book? you can not be a low caste either. You are one of those call center type paid & sponsored spoilers. your only job is to try to create misunderstanding or division between Sikh’s or anyone who might go that way. Do you get paid hourly for this?
As for me I go to Ravidas Gordwara in our US city here. But am very clear who offered us place and respect in history. For me Ravidas is our Guru because he was from same caste as me – may be he was my grand pa , So i want to show him respect and take him as my guru but 10 Sikh Guru are my Guru too, because they did not kept there offering only for there circle or caste. But your type people are neither guru ravidas followers neither any other guru followers.

Ik amrit dhara hai, jis vich Nanak te Ravidas samajande ne.Sanu murkha nu eh nahin samajh lagde ke Ravidas uhna vich aa ke betha ta ki uh v uplift ho sakan. Chammar oh nahin assi ha jo neech sochde han. Come on sikho, we should uplift us to match him not to bring Him down.

I belong to the Sirkarraiya village of varanasi where guru ravi das was born and lived most of his life .He visited punjab too. He wore tilak and worshiped idols as sikhs worship book . Idol and book both are matter and therefor qualify for being Murti . Ravidas said , ” Man changa to Kathauthi me ganga .” At last brhmins of varanasi accepted his spiritual status .He gave due regard to every vedic rituals . Infact , ek onkar is nothing but already given in vedas thousands of years before birth of Guru Nanak dev ji .Nirakar concept is taken from vedas too . Infact Upanashid teachings are base of sikhism , Budhism , Jainism ect . one should read and be ready to accept the truth .There is no term mentioned in scriptures like Brahminism and there is no approval of cast system in original text Vedas . Intime things got perverted and cast system came in vogue . Even now , as opposed to sikhism , every sikh is deeply attached to his caste . There is no point in being hypocrite and not see through the truth .

In response to Pankaj Pardhan’s RSS agenda comments I have one question for him. Where and when did the Hindu accepted Bhagat Ravidas jee’s spirtual status. Can you provide us some fact in this regard. Did you forget the humilation of Bhagat jee’s family by the so called vadic culture and Upanashid valuue system that included cast system and Sati Pratha. Budhism and Jains are two victims of your Vadic culture. Let me assure you that we the Sikhs are not Budha and Jains who will scumb to Hindu idealogy. Try not to rewrite the history. We have historical facts about our history and you have two great entertainment epics of Ramayan and Mahabharat. We have one God(Waheguru)not millions. My God is not elephant, monkey or some other Starwars Character. We can see through the truth but your hypocracy is blinding your vision. One thing for sure that you have studied good at Ekal Schools of Nagpur where your head Sudarshan of RSS is spinning your tail.

The sikh scholars first have heart to accept the Gurus of other people as Gurus. Guru Ravidass ji came before Nanak dev ji but scholars of your community had said so many things in the past like this article where the scholar is himself not clear whether he is explaining something or just trying to defend something.
Must I admit with my head held high that I AM A CHAMAAR by birth and by caste and would never try to change myself in any way.
I just want to tell not only Sikhs, but of other religions to accept and respect other religions and their followers. Denying the dues is denying justice and it goes out of hand ALWAYS.
The gurus gave respect to Guru Ravidss ji’s baani because they themselves got enlightened by that not that the baani was saved by Gurus and so we know it. THERE IS SO MUCH OF BAANI THAT WAS NOT INCLUDED AND IS AVAILABLE in AMRITWAANI VAANI GURU RAVIDASS JI.
